Chief Executive Officer & Co-Founder
Randy Satterlee is a telecommunications pioneer and the Co-Founder of VanRan Communications. With a passion for creating customer-focused solutions that deliver paradigm-shifting business impact, Randy established VanRan in 1986 alongside Charlie Vanderford. Her vision for a unique customer service model—delivering individualized solutions, best-in-class technology, and services tailored to each client’s specific requirements—remains the central theme of the organization today.
A serial entrepreneur, Randy has founded and developed multiple companies, including Magnetic Spectrum, Inc. and Scendqr. Prior to launching VanRan, she participated in the Executive Development Program at AT&T, bringing deep industry expertise from one of the nation’s leading telecommunications organizations.
Randy holds a Master’s Degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a Bachelor’s Degree from The Ohio State University. She is actively involved in the business community as a member of Global Executive Women and the Women’s Presidents’ Organization. She has served as a guest speaker at local colleges and high schools on entrepreneurship and previously sat on the Telecommunications Committee for Gwinnett Technical College. Randy also serves on the Board of Directors for Iverson Genetics and the Atlanta Chapter of the American Red Cross.

President
Megan Satterlee is President of VanRan Communications, a role she has held since 2008. She brings a powerful blend of strategic vision, logical execution, and deep operational expertise to the company. Megan is a passionate customer advocate who drives the introduction of innovative technologies and solutions, ensuring VanRan’s clients receive the highest quality resources, exceptional experiences, and measurable business outcomes. Her leadership emphasizes superior customer service and continuous improvement across the organization.
Megan joined VanRan in 2000 and has steadily advanced through key leadership positions in Sales, Engineering, Operations, and Business Development. Her broad experience across all facets of the business gives her a unique, enterprise-wide perspective that strengthens VanRan’s ability to deliver reliable, forward-thinking communication solutions.
Megan earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Mathematics and Architectural Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder. An explorer at heart, she enjoys traveling, cooking, sports, and pursuing new business opportunities. Her combination of technical knowledge, strategic insight, and unwavering commitment to customer success continues to guide VanRan’s growth and innovation in the communications industry.
Chief Technology Officer
Danny Nieves is an accomplished technology leader with over 20 years of expertise across the telecommunications and IT industries. As Chief Technology Officer at VanRan, Danny oversees complex projects, drives innovative technology utilization, and leads challenging deployments that others consider too difficult or stalled. His strategic vision and hands-on expertise help organizations maximize the value of their communication infrastructure.
Danny’s career spans key roles in telecommunications, including consulting for Citi Wealth Management and Vonage, as well as overseeing acquisition processes for Legg Mason (into Smith Barney). A pioneer in cloud-based solutions, he worked with VoIP cloud services well before the term “cloud” became industry standard. He brings deep technical knowledge in virtualization, infrastructure, and systems management.

Danny’s passion for technology began early—he learned to type before holding a pencil and started working in computer repair and sales at age 12. Today, he remains an active PC hobbyist and mentor, helping youth build skills in computers and programming. His unique blend of technical depth, real-world experience, and forward-thinking approach makes him a vital leader at VanRan.
Director of Technical Operations
Chip Knowles is a highly experienced technology leader serving as Director of Technical Operations at VanRan Communications. In this role, he oversees the company’s network engineering and technical support teams, troubleshoots complex infrastructure issues, and plays a key part in defining VanRan’s forward-looking technology strategy and roadmap. Chip combines deep hands-on technical expertise with strong people leadership to ensure reliable, high-performance communication solutions for enterprise and carrier clients.
With extensive experience in telecommunications and unified communications, Chip specializes in the design, implementation, optimization, and ongoing support of complex voice, data, IP telephony, and VoIP networks. He is known for his ability to rapidly diagnose and resolve critical system issues, often stepping in to lead challenging troubleshooting efforts that keep customer environments running at peak performance with minimal disruption.
Chip brings a strategic mindset to VanRan’s technical direction, collaborating with executive leadership to evaluate emerging technologies, improve operational processes, and align infrastructure capabilities with long-term business goals. His blend of technical depth, team development, and operational excellence helps strengthen VanRan’s reputation for delivering robust, scalable, and future-ready communication solutions.

Vice President of Cloud Innovation
Ron Bohannon is a results-driven Technology and Network Engineering industry veteran with more than 35 years of experience working with both large and small enterprise customers. In his role as VP of Cloud Innovation, Ron focuses on enhancing customer experiences through portfolio expansion, innovative operational tools, and strategic technology solutions that deliver real business value.
Prior to joining VanRan in 2005, Ron held Senior System Engineering roles with Nortel Networks and Timeplex, where he played a key role in designing and implementing DSL and IP Services for Bell South. He brings deep technical expertise and a passion for staying ahead of industry trends—reading more than 2,000 pages per week on technology developments, breakthroughs, and emerging solutions.
Ron holds multiple technical certifications with Avaya and Genband and earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science from Florida Southern College. His combination of hands-on engineering experience and customer-focused approach makes him a trusted advisor to organizations seeking reliable, forward-thinking communication solutions.
MBA, PMP, Director of Quality Assurance
Emily Sanders Steczo is a dedicated operations leader with over 15 years of experience at VanRan Communications, where she has played a pivotal role in driving operational excellence, project delivery, and organizational growth. As Director of Quality Assurance, Emily oversees day-to-day business functions, quality assurance, project management, and process optimization to ensure seamless service delivery for VanRan’s customers in telecommunications, cloud, and network solutions.
Since joining VanRan in 2008, Emily has progressed through key roles including Accountant, Project Manager, and Director of Operations. She also serves as Quality Assurance Manager for VR3Cloud, VanRan’s affiliated cloud services division. Her expertise spans financial operations, project execution, and strategic process improvements that support VanRan’s commitment to reliable, high-quality communication solutions.
Emily holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Business from American University (2002–2005) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a specialization in Real Estate from Georgia State University’s J. Mack Robinson College of Business (2010–2013). She is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
Known for her meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and customer-focused mindset, Emily brings both strategic insight and hands-on leadership to the VanRan team. Her contributions continue to strengthen internal operations and enhance the overall client experience in the fast-evolving communications industry.
Vice President of Global Sales
John Mason is a seasoned sales and business development leader with over 30 years of experience in telecommunications, technology innovation, and global customer solutions. As Vice President of Global Sales at VanRan, John leverages his extensive background to help organizations implement communications as a strategic asset, delivering cost-effective platforms that drive efficiency and competitive advantage.
John brings deep expertise in worldwide applications of emerging technologies, with a proven track record of interfacing with Fortune 500 companies. His contributions include successful product rollouts such as Microsoft Teams Voice solutions for carriers and Enterprises and AI interactive virtual assistant applications, helping customers modernize their communication infrastructures.
Prior to VanRan, John held senior leadership roles including VP Carrier Sales at SIPPIO, VP Strategic Alliances, and VP Strategic Accounts at Ribbon and Kandy, along with various business development positions focused on carrier and enterprise solutions. He earned his education from the University of Tampa and Tampa College, with a focus on telecommunications.
Known for his innovative approach and global perspective, John is passionate about building strong customer relationships and identifying tailored solutions that align advanced technology with customers real business needs. His leadership continues to expand VanRan’s reach and impact in the communications industry.
